Laila Ampy-Thomas

Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development

Laila Ampy-Thomas is a passionate individual committed to community development and youth empowerment. Graduating from Virginia Tech in 2023, Laila earned her degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences, with a minor in Leadership and Social Change.

Hailing from Chesterfield, VA, Laila's journey in community engagement and leadership began early. She dedicated several years to coaching a recreational cheerleading team in her local area, fostering teamwork, discipline, and a love for physical activity among young athletes.

Laila's professional journey has seen her immerse herself in various roles aimed at serving her community. She interned in Henrico County as a VCE Intern in 2022, where she gained valuable insights into community needs and outreach strategies. Her dedication and enthusiasm led her to become an emergency hire in Richmond City in 2023, where she continued to make a positive impact through her work.

Now serving as the 4H Agent for Henrico County, Laila is eager to leverage her education, experience, and passion to survey the community and foster positive change. With a motto of "making the best better," Laila is committed to creating inclusive programs, supporting youth development initiatives, and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. She approaches her work with dedication, empathy, and a genuine desire to uplift those around her.
